We’re looking for an experienced Database Administrator / Cloud Data Platform Administrator with 5+ years of experience to take ownership of our enterprise data platforms—with a focus on Snowflake, Databricks, and AWS.
In this role, you will be the backbone of our data ecosystem. You’ll partner closely with Data Engineering, Architecture, Security, and Analytics teams to ensure our platforms are high-performing, cost-efficient, resilient, and secure. If you thrive on optimizing complex data workloads, automating operational workflows, and solving mission-critical platform challenges, we’d love to meet you.
What You’ll Do
- Platform Administration & Reliability: Manage, support, and scale our production Databricks and Snowflake environments to guarantee high availability and resilience.
- Performance & Cost Optimization: Proactively monitor and fine-tune Snowflake warehouses and Databricks clusters to ensure maximum performance and smart cost utilization.
- Security & Governance: Architect and enforce security baselines, Role-Based Access Controls (RBAC), SSO, and data compliance standards across environments.
- Automation & CI/CD: Automate routine operational and platform maintenance tasks using Python, SQL, REST APIs, and Infrastructure as Code (IaC). Support deployment pipelines and change management.
- Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity: Establish and maintain robust backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with data engineers, architects, and business stakeholders to troubleshoot complex pipeline bottlenecks and operationalize new data platform capabilities.
- Standards & Documentation: Author clear operational procedures, architectural standards, and playbooks.
What You’ll Bring
- Experience: 5+ years of hands-on experience in database administration, cloud data platform engineering, or a related platform support role.
- Core Tech Stack: Proven experience administering both Snowflake and Databricks in production environments.
- Cloud Expertise: Solid experience working with major cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS (or Azure / GCP).
- Optimization Chops: Strong SQL expertise with a track record of tuning query performance, managing compute resources, and troubleshooting data pipelines.
- Automation & Scripting: Practical experience with Python scripting, REST APIs, automation tooling, and CI/CD workflows.
- Platform Security: Deep understanding of enterprise security practices, access controls (RBAC), data governance, and compliance.
- Mindset & Communication: A sharp problem-solver who communicates clearly, works well across teams, and documents thoroughly.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience.
Bonus Points If You Have
- Certifications: Snowflake SnowPro Core/Advanced and/or Databricks Certified Associate/Professional.
- Modern Lakehouse Tech: Hands-on exposure to Delta Lake, Apache Spark, Apache Iceberg, or modern lakehouse architectures.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Experience managing data platform infrastructure via Terraform.
